On The Road Again, to Indiana
Sep 20, 2010
|We were up by 6:00 this morning. Marilyn started the coffee while I jumped into the shower.
It was a travel day but we had to have our morning coffee first, so we sat together and sipped the fresh, hot coffee, just to get our hearts started. LOL
Once the coffee was finished we started on our “Do before moving” list of chores.
It was exactly 8:00 when we pulled out of the campground.
We crossed the Mississippi River bridge into Illinois 10 minutes later and were on our way.
It was a good travel day with nice weather and we averaged 11.3 mpg for the entire trip.
We noticed that the leaves are already changing into the beautiful fall colors as we reached I-80.
The traffic around Chicago was pretty bad but the only thing which slowed us down was the construction. That was pretty much a continual problem but the work already done has resulted in some very nice, smooth roads.
I-80 through northern Indiana is a toll road and the 90 miles or so that we drove in that state cost us $17.50.
The road isn’t THAT good!
We arrived at Cross RV after driving for 7 hours and 40 minutes, which included one stop for fuel and a sandwich. Long Day!
Paul debriefed us and we were soon parked and connected to electric power, and they had a water hose which we used to put water into our on board water tank.
We took off as soon as we were free and drove to a restaurant for some dinner. Marilyn chose fried chicken while I opted for liver & onions. We brought two slices of lemon pie home but it lasted only a few minutes after we went inside.
Now we are settled down to watch the season premier of “Dancing With The Stars”.
