I've arrived back in Delhi after catching the express train from Amritsar this morning (0510 - 1050) (I hate these early departures, but this was the only express train; other trains would be an additional two to three hours of travel time).
I have decided to compromise and head to Goa, saving a visit to Kerala for future trip. After spending some time in Goa, a former Portuguese stronghold, I plan to work my way north to Mumbai (Bombay), and arrange for a flight to Bangkok, Thailand. I have purchased a flight online from Delhi to Goa on Spice Jet, a new low fare Indian airline with only electronic ticketing. The total price was Rs 5,420 or US$121, a very reasonable fare in my opinion for this two and one half hour flight. Two travel agents quoted me Rs 6,200 or US$139, a difference of US$18 or 15% higher, for the same flight that I booked online. You just gotta love the Internet! My flight departs on Sunday, so I have a few days to spend in Delhi. I'm planning to do a few things that I didn't get a chance to do when I was here earlier including seeing an Indian dance performance and perhaps getting another Ayurvedic massage.
