May 2, 2012 – Victoria to Livingston, Texas
I woke up this morning to a few showers. I decided to wait until they were over before I set out for Livingston. It was an uneventful trip including driving through Houston. I got into Livingston just before 4:00 p.m. after following US59 all the way. Unfortunately, the office where I could pick up my mail and sign up to get the coach weighed closed at 4 so I will have to wait until tomorrow to do that. I got the coach set-up, ate supper and have just relaxed since then.
I stopped in Wharton about noon just to get off the road for a while and to have lunch. I parked in the Buc-ees store lot. They have a wide variety of candy, jerky, geegaws, toys, etc. Their logo is a beaver, and they have all kinds of things with beavers on them as well as stuffed beavers for which you can buy little shirts which have different saying or play on words about beavers. They also have T-shirts with sayings on them like “One hot beaver”:, “Hug a beaver”, etc.
The black-eyed Susans, Queen Anne’s Lace, azaleas and some scrub brush type tree with white flowers are in full bloom. I missed the bluebonnets this year, but there is always next year.
Tomorrow, I’m going to do a little sightseeing around here and go to the grocery store. I’m not sure if I’ll get away from here on Friday or if I will wait until Monday. It depends on when I can get the coach weighed.
That’s it for today.
