Nick and Matt in the diner

We arrived back in our start point early in the morning and checked in to the hotel to await Matt who was flying over to see us. He arrived and after checking in we explored the city. We booked up our skiing for the following day and in the evening we had a curry in our hotel as Matt was quite tired.

We went skiing on two separate days, once to Valle Nevado and once to La Parva. Snow was better in Valle Nevado, but we had great fun on both days. The weather was great on the first day, worse at LP. After two days and the hassle of having to get there and back we decided that was enough. It had been great to try two different resorts though.

On our other days in Santiago we took in a few of the site one day with Matt, eating at some great places along the way (would you expect anything else when Nick and Matt get together !!?). We went to the Cerro Santa Lucia for a view over the city and took in the Bella Artes museum which was a lovely building with lots of weird art (including an exhibition on the perfect English Gentleman!!).

We also visited Valparaiso, a Chilean port town which is famous for all the different coloured houses and steep streets with many funicular railways connecting everywhere. It was good to get out of Santiago and see somewhere different.

It was strange having our last few days in South America, but also enjoyable having Matt around and drinking lots of wine while playing cards.

RECCOMMENDATIONS

Majestic hotel - We got a great price from Octopus travel and they have an Indian restaurant...... coool ! (also reccommended)

Liguria - Great restaurant with atmosphere. Huge wine selection and all the food was great.

Fuerte Aleman - Great lunch time hang out. Local bar serving huge sandwhiches.
