When we got the Airstream back from the repair shop, we spent a couple of weeks at Treetops RV park in Arlington, but we wanted to spend our last days in a more esoteric setting. We found it at Hickory Creek Corps of Engineers park on Lake Lewisville.
We got a nice shady spot

While we were there, we had the opportunity to meet two other Escapees couples which we had met on the internet. We also had Madeleine and Jean-Luc out for the weekend. They brought their bikes and had a great time on the trail. Jean-Luc had an emergency cone set up that marked his boundaries, and Madeleine wore one of the 2-way radios set on voice activate so she could travel further afield and yet still be connected to worry warts Grandma and Grandpa.
My brother and his wife came out for supper one evening and we had a great time although we were concerned whether Stephen would be able to get out of the Airstream once he got it. (He badly broke his leg in March and cannot put weight on it yet.)
After all the visiting was over, it was time for us to start moving out. We cleaned out all the drawers, closets, storage areas etc. It's actually amazing how much stuff we had. It just shows how great the storage spaces are.
It was a little emotional the last day as we knew we would not be living in the Airstream any more. We left the campground and unloaded everything into our daughter's garage, then drove the Airstream over to the storage area where she'll stay til we sell her. Someone is going to get a great deal - we've added so many things during our fulltiming days that we didn't have when we were just vacationing and everything is going with her.
We don't regret a single day that we have spent in the Airstream - so many golden memories - great places, people, food, activities - a truly wonderful lifestyle. Every day was a gift.
