It's not wise to walk these planks!

Can you believe that San Felasco is a mispronunciation by settlers and Indians of the name of a mission that was here called San Francisco de Potano? not even close!

This park has a big network of bike and horse trails and I did parts of two of those trails, looking for letterboxes along the way. Penelope is a pavement bike and we both had quite the workout this afternoon on those trails with places of roots and soft sand to make life interesting! I went through areas of hammock with large oak trees and spanish moss and monster vines wrapped around them or the pines and on the perimeter of large open fields. Once I got to Itchy Bottom Lake, I rested then went back to the car. At the lake, I saw many egrets, herons, and anhingas. Yep, I'm still in Florida!

Later on, I went to a park by the name of Chastain-Seay in a very small town of Worthington Springs. The town seemed deserted, but I think everyone was at a church social or service, as that's where all the cars were! Turns out the park was established in 2002 but was abandoned shortly after, by the looks of things. The picnic area is overgrown, but the camping area still has running water. I didn't have anything to test the 30 amp electrical posts, though. I wouldn't have wanted to drive Miss Daisy into the campground part because I might not have made it on those sand roads! I looked at the Santa Fe River from this park but did not walk a trail. The boardwalks and bridges are in disrepair and I didn't want to end my trek by falling through a board and drowning in the river!
