Yesterday we drove 126 miles to the Santa Anita Race Track in Arcadia, CA. After parking and checking in, we had a nice dinner with everybody. There is 70 rigs attending this Rose Bowl Parade Rally.
First thing in the morning we had breakfast which was provided. It was a full breakfast, even by my standards.
This morning we took a short bus ride to the City of Sierra Madre float where we got a tour by the head guy. After the tour we got a chance to cut roses for the float..... 40,000 of them, but since there were 150 of us it didn't take that long. After that it was bus back to the race track and eat lunch which was provided for us.
After lunch provided at the race track, we got back on the buses and went to the Huntington Library. Huntington was one of the railroad big shots and made tons of money. His mansion was 60,000 sq ft. We got a guided tour and then had a small amount of time on our own. We lost batteries when we went into the Chinese garden. What a bummer, it is 4 acres and very beautiful. At 4 pm we got back on the buses for provided dinner at the race track.
After dinner it was back on the buses to go to the Crystal Cathedral to see the pageant titled "The Glory of Christmas". It is a big production with 3 camels, 5 horses and a bunch of smaller animals that come on stage during the telling of the birth of Jesus. During the production they have 7 angels flying around the cathedral. As you may know, the Crystal Cathedral is large and quit tall (about 140 ft tall). After the pageant, it was back on the buses so we could get some sleep.
