This morning Dianne Bennett, Jeanne Hamilton and I hit the road again to ogle the wildflowers. This time we were amply rewarded. The last time we went out, it was a bit too early for a good showing. What a difference three weeks can make!
The early morning was extremely foggy but the fog soon lifted and we had some occasional sunshine. The temperature was just right.
Our first photo stop was at the junction of US290 and US281 south of Johnson City. The wide median and the shoulders were covered with flowers – mostly yellow and orange varieties. Farther down the road on US290 west of Johnson City there were some patches with an amazing variety of flowers of all colors.
As it was getting close to noon, we stopped for lunch in Fredericksburg at Friedhelm’s Bavarian Restaurant. It is one of my favorite places to eat. It was the first time for Jeanne and Dianne and they liked my choice. After lunch we headed to the Willow City Loop. That was where we had a feast for our eyes and, of course, spent most of our time.
About mid-afternoon we returned to Fredericksburg and stopped at the Dairy Queen for some treats before heading back to Austin. It was a good day all around.
