At Home in the Mountains
Jun 6, 2010
|We are at our mountain home!
We didn’t have much to do, to get ready for the road this morning because we didn’t even disconnect last night.
We pulled out of the campground in Oakley about 10 before 7 this morning. I think that is a record for the earliest we have ever been on the road.
We drove into some rain and the out of it. That is when the headwinds really began to eat into the mpg.
We watched as the mileage increased to 9.7 mpg before it began to fall.
When we arrived here we had averaged only 8.7 mpg for the day.
To add insult to injury, we filled up with fuel at a Flying J at Limon, CO, where the price for a gallon of diesel was $3.15.
Of course there was a 7 cents per gallon discount for cash.
We arrived at Mountaindale RV Resort at 10:45 Mountain time, having gained an hour due to the time change.
We drove nearly five hours again, but were all set up in our site by 1:30 PM.
The chairs are set up around the fire-pit, the table cloth is on the outdoor table, and even the tri-pod stabilizer is in place.
Marilyn & I sat outdoors relaxing with the wonderful low humidity and the gentle breeze bringing us the tantalizing scent of the pine trees.
Marilyn has the indoors looking great and the outdoors is all ready to enjoy. Our windows are open to allow that pine tree scent to come inside. The temperature is perfect, too!
I ate a bite of lunch and had a cold beer while sitting under the awning looking at the pine trees.
We noticed quite a bit of snow still on the mountains, when we drove in.
I am waiting for the water heater to do its job so that I can take my shower.
We plan to have some roast pork, mashed potatoes and gravy, and cinnamon apples for dinner tonight.
I wouldn’t be surprised if a glass of wine is added to the meal, just to make it complete. LOL
We have things to do tomorrow, so I will have something to write about.
In the meantime, I’ll just wrap this up, even though it is early in the day.
We are very relaxed, glad to be here, but missing the grandkids already. I guess that happens! We wish they were here.
See you tomorrow. Remember…….Life is Good!
