|After arriving back in Vegas we had a few days of rest before packing a bag and heading to Mesquite to pick Mom up for her trip home. She had warned me in advance that she had accumulated a lot while out of town. Oh my goodness, her baggage was unbelievable! You might remember that I took her to California way back in December to visit sister Elaine & her family for a couple of months. Well, my truck was loaded pretty heavily then but it was nothing compared to this trip, lol! Of course Christmas and her birthday happened during that time frame but come on, how many gifts did you receive???? LOL
Actually, shopping is VERY limited in Ely. Like almost non existent. So Mom is like a kid in a candy store when you get her near a Wal-Mart, Smith's, Walgreen's, JC Penney's and the list goes on. And she had the shopping bags to prove it. Plus we had Mandy cat and her carrier as well as Onyx & her bed to put in the back seat with Mom. Good thing she is thin, lol!
Fortunately we had a tarp along and were able to pile the truck bed full and tie it down. Well sort of down! The wind kicked up in several areas along the way and frankly tore the tarp to shreds. But it did it's job and kept everything intact until we arrived. And we did not encounter any of the rain/slow that was predicted so that was a big plus.
We haven't done much since we arrived except help Mom get settled in. She purchased a new flat screen TV/DVD player while in California so we got it up and operating. And Don & Elaine & Larry & I gave her a great Sennheiser headset to listen to her TV programs easily for her birthday. She loves them by the way, as does Larry love his set. Crystal clear audio and no more struggling to catch every word.
Tuesday morning we woke to a light snow covering but by days end it had melted considerably. But it has not warmed up at all, brrrrrrrr.....I am not used to 40's for a high, especially after just leaving sunny, warm Arizona. Great time for reading and staying indoors! Well, that's it for now. We'll be heading back to Vegas for a month or so on Saturday and then we'll return to Ely before Mother's Day. Looking forward to spending some time with family, friends and especially the grand kids.
