Wanderings and Side Trips travel blog

We have finally arrived at our first destination - Conejos River RV park and campground in Fox Creek, Colorado. This park was recommended by our friends, Mick and Carol Miles. They spend quite a bit of time here and it is a very reasonable distance from Tribune. Even if you only had three or four days, it would be a nice trip - only 350 miles from our home. It looks as if it used to be a KOA - you know - the A frame office etc. It is a very nice place with lots of room and very clean. The laundry room is spotless!! The manager is very friendly and accommodating. We will be happy to stay here again.

Our friends, Janice and Dean and Tom and Dianna, had already arrived and had our space picked out for us, so we just drove right in and set up. They had already explored some of the area and had information for us, such as - cell phones don't work here, a good restaurant in town and another just down the road at a bread and breakfast. They had already met some of our "neighbors".

We were so happy to be here and the stress has begun to melt away. This is a beautiful area , one we haven't explored much, so we are looking forward to a great week.

Tomorrow we ride the Cumbres/Toltec scenic railroad and we are looking forward to that.
