Lake Tamarak

Eagle Mountain Ghost Town

Fish farm

We drove only a very short distance to get to Desert Center. Nothing here, but we are delaying arrival at the Bluegrass Festival. We drove out to Eagle Mountain which is a town that was a mine for Kaiser that closed in 1982. It is now a ghost town, but there is a guard and the town is fenced so you can't go in. We then drove over to a fish farm and checked it out.... nobody was there. Then we drove around the desert just checking things out. We stopped by Eagle Mountain Pump Plant by the Metropolitan Water District. The place is fenced and gated with no guard. I pushed the button on the call box and arranged for us to get a tour tomorrow. I did tell them I was retired from the San Diego Water Department. We also drove over to a golf community where they have a small lake, Lake Tamarack.
