Our trip from Dewey to Holbrook, AZ covered 179 miles, almost all of it on I-17 and I-40. It was cloudy the whole ride but we were fortunate to only have a very light rain during the last 30 or so miles. Doris took one picture of the Verde Valley right after we headed north on I-17 but it broke the camera so just the one picture today. I think we figured out what was wrong so maybe a few more tomorrow. There isn't a lot to take pictures of across the northern Arizona and New Mexico desert!
We are staying at the Petrified Forest KOA in Holbrook and it has seen better days - just a big gravel lot with hookups. Since we are not throwing a party but just spending the night, it will work fine for us. I suspect we will find similar lodging the next couple of spots as well.
Tomorrow we will take about a three-hour ride to Grants, NM for another one-night stay. Hopefully we can keep Rosa in the rear-view mirror!
