Iowa offered a countryside right out of Americana calendars. Besides getting greener and greener and prettier and prettier, clouds played a good part too. Blue skies and puffy clouds can transform the landscape, it seems.

I didn't leave that huge parking lot I parked on Thursday night until about noon on Friday. Got some chores done, dumped and flushed which took me much longer than usual. The water pressure was very low. I can't imagine what it's going to be like when they have customers! I might feel sorry for them if in fact they did not know what they were doing and hired - paid good money - to someone to design an RV park for them. The website showed a couple sitting in chairs on green grass and the page boasted of large sites. My truck, unhooked from the 5th wheel, just fit end to end in the site. If someone had been parked next to me, I would have had my coffee amid their hookups. Unhooked, I would have had no place to park my truck. Ample, freshly laid gravel defined all spaces and roads and I know they paid a pretty penny for it, but I can't imagine more than a one-night stand and the Passport America price of $22.00 with taxes was almost too much.

The drive to Altoona, IA really was a pretty one. In a few months, the landscape will even be prettier when the corn is up and the red-winged blackbirds color the sky.

I got my 'uniform' and finished paper work at Adventureland's headquarters and found they have me scheduled to work just Sunday. The park doesn't open 7 days a week until 19th so I have a week of getting to know the area again. Walmart, Target and others are just around the corner and down the street. I bought a little pocket camera that I will take to work with me...for those moments. Tonight I watched Hidden Figures. Wow. What an incredible story. A new movie theatre has been built in Altoona. I'll have to see what's playing.
