Our European Adventure travel blog

Wednesday 22nd,

We found Bruge, Brussels an enchanting medieval towne. Narrow cobblestone streets, canals and of course squares and churches. A fun horse and buggy ride through the town with a German couple who spoke no English took about and hour. Our driver spoke English and limited German so we all tried our best to help this couple in explaining the sites.

This horse had obviously been trained to this route without cars nor people being present. He just ignored them. We had people slamming on brakes in both cars and on their bikes and parents grabbing children out of the way. He just plodded along obviously!!!

As we were cold and it was really our first overcast day we decided to head south to the Mediterranean instead of the coast of Normandy. We will do that in the Fall when it is supposed to be warmer.

The thruway although not cheap was the quickest way south so we headed out passing through Lille, St Quentin, Reims, stopping at a campground in Chalons de Champagne, which was hidden in a residential area. Again, grateful to find a place to stop.
