A trip to the Panama Canal and beyond travel blog

It was a busy day!

We got up at 4:30 and put the final touches on our packing then the phone - our ride was here at 5:15. i went down and paid the hotel bill and Minna came down a bit later - the off to the airport.

Not much traffic that time of day. we passed the old cathedral tower we had visited a few days earlier - this time from the road over the sea! All lit up - looked nice.

At the airport there was quite a long line and when we finally got checked it it was too late to get anything from the duty free shop. Too bad. We got on the plane and had an uneventful flight to Atlanta - everything worked just right!

Then the thunderstorm... Pelting rain, thunder and lightening for over an hour - so they closed the airport - and flights were delayed. Our flight was to leave at 5:00 and it left at 7:30. Not too bad as several flights were cancelled outright.

we had a very amusing flight attendant - Jerry - who did all sorts of odd things while going through the safety procedures. Best service we've had on the whole trip. But arrived at Roanoke about 9:00, got the car out of hock, and headed back to Lynchburg.

An amazing trip!
