Our campsite at Del Yermo RV Park

Niland, CA - Wonder what this building was when the town was...

Slightly overgrown irrigation canal

Bees right along the road

Left San Dimas at 10:00 a.m. for the 4 ½ hour drive (including 10 min. rest stop for Taco) to the Del Yermo RV Park in Calipatria, CA. Del Yermo means “Of the Desert” and indeed it is. This is a small, mostly permanent residential, RV park about 100 yards from the train tracks (one train each night…makes the trailer wiggle, LOL) in the small town of Calipatria, one of 3 towns on the east side of the Salton Sea. The southern segment of the San Andreas Fault (known as the Mojave segment) begins near the Salton Sea. Isn’t that exciting (as long as there’s no quake while we’re here)!
