Kirks OpenRoad Adventures in the USA travel blog

This was a short trip which took about 1.5 hrs. to get there. Becca and Ashlynn liked this shorter trip because they didn't have to get up so early in the A.M. :)

Byers Choice Ltd makes the Caroler and Kindle Christmas collectible figurines. The neat thing about this company is that it was started by Joyce Byers as a hobby and moved to their garage, then a barn and finally into a beautiful facility that employs 150 people. The figurines are all handmade right here in the good ole USA! How cool is that?! They have display villages set up featuring their figurines and a glassed in viewing platform overlooking the workroom where you can watch them being made. They are all handmade collectibles and consequently pretty expensive, but it is free to tour the facility and very interesting to see the displays and watch them being made. They also have beautiful gardens surrounding the facility that are open to the public. It was such a hot day that we skipped that part, but it is a place we would visit again on a cooler day so that we could take in the gardens as well.

The company does allow picture taking everywhere but the work area. We forgot our camera that day,so we don't have any pictures to share. Sorry,we'll do better next time.:)

See ya on our next trip, which will be Cape May,NJ Beach. Get your swimsuit on and join us! :):):):)
