Attack #10-Staled in Solvang23 May - After a semi-quiet night in the Kmart parking lot in Goleta (it appears that the local rowdies like to party there) we convoyed 36 miles to the little town of Solvang to continue our invasion. What a sweet place, and I mean that literally. Solvang is a small Danish community that puts a lot of emphases on pastries, which most of us enjoyed as we waited almost an hour for our marching orders. Fellow foot solder Nancy and I led the troops most of the way through and around the scenic hills of an affluent housing/golfing development.
We discovered a little chow hall in town that had an almost exclusive 1 dollar menu. Rollers, sliders, fries, and many other healthy items, were all available for just a buck apiece. After a giant hot dog with onion rings and a lot of bloviating, I retreated to our next encampment a short 4 miles down the road on the streets of Buellton.
Mission Status for day 8 of 16: Completed 10th of 21 scheduled attacks for a total of 91 miles on the ground and 600 convoy miles.
