Welcome to California - crossing from Arizona into California

California desert outside of Palm Springs

Entering Indio, Palm Springs, Palm Desert and Desert Hot Springs

Paulette and I both think we may have found our future 2-3 month winter getaway - it's definitely the Sands RV and Golf Resort in Desert Hot Springs just outside of Palm Springs, California. It is an absolutely beautiful RV Resort with all the amenities anyone could possibly want. There's a large heated swimming pool with 2 hot tubs, a fully equipped gym, spacious and quiet RV sites, craft rooms, games rooms, spotless showers and it even has it's own 9 hole golf course. This is easily the nicest place we have stayed at so far easily surpassing anywhere we stayed at in Arizona.

We are only a 5 minute drive from downtown Palm Springs and about 15 minutes from the city of Indio. There appears to be tons of shopping around here and a lot of other interesting things to see and do as well. In addition, we're only about 2 hours from Los Angeles. Paulette is dying to see Hollywood! She even has thoughts(dreams??) about going to see the stars arrive on the red carpet for the Oscars!!

When we arrived early this afternoon the temperature was around 82F and not a cloud in the sky. It's supposed stay that way for quite a while. As we pulled in to register, we met Tom and Donna walking up the path to the clubhouse - they have been here for about 3 weeks now and are staying until March 2nd. They both love this place and say they will definitely return. Tonight, they were going with some neighbours to a Palm Date Harvest Festival where LeAnn Rimes is performing live and it only costs $7 to get in the place.

As soon as we got parked and setup at our site, Paulette went down to the swimming pool to check it out and said it was perfect - the water is nice and warm at 84F and both of the outdoor spas were nice as well. I went for a swim later and Paulette was right - the pool is perfect! A man I was talking to in the spa was from Nanaimo and Paulette met a lady from Salt Spring Island when she was there - small world!

Tonight, we just took it easy and watched a movie "The Kingdom" - it was pretty good. Tomorrow, we'll probably spend some time in the morning checking out the Palm Springs area and then head back to the RV park to enjoy the sun and the pool.
