It's Sunday and time to move on, back to Canada today. We left early (8:30 or so) since we have to dump the tanks and didn't want to be at the back of a long line. As it turned out, the only guy in line left as we were driving up. The trip north up highway 97 was uneventful, with very few hills and none that were remarkable.
Decided that, even though we didn't need it, we would get gas in Washington since it's cheaper than in Canada. We stopped in Oroville and found out that, if we gas up the motor home (gas cap on the left side at the back), we can't gas up the toad (gas cap on the right side). Toad will have to wait.
The border crossing into Canada was a non-event, compared with crossing into the States. We were simply asked for id and asked a few questions about purchases in the US and whether the motor home or car had any work done in the States, and we were on our way. There only appeared to be one border agent (as opposed to the four who worked on our crossing in North Portal) and all but one of the gates were closed.
The weather is deteriorating, getting very windy and threatening rain. What's this? We're supposed to be going into 'great fall weather' according to Ian, our real estate agent. We arrived at Desert Lakes RV Park just before 1pm, and found that they only had a couple of spots available...popular place for September. Elaine agreed that we would take one spot for the night, and then move to a different spot for the balance of our time here. The new spot has trees that will allow us to open the awning if necessary, and the fifth wheel next door will provide shade for the dogs on the grass.
Not sure how often this journal will be updated in the next week since we plan to visit our builder and generally explore the town. We have a trip to Kelowna planned for Wednesday, to see Phil and Tracey's new home. Stay tuned for more information as it happens.
