The next part of our journey (1200 km)was along the Great Ocean Road. Fantastic beaches, huge breaking waves, cliffs and dartmoor like scenery. It was beautiful, with many pretty resorts along the way.
It is the start of spring here and the further south we went the colder it got, some nights it went down to 8 degrees, and we had no heating in the van! It was nice though because most places were really quiet and accommodation was cheap. We had got a bit exhausted of always being on the move that we decided to stay 3 nights at Warrenbool in a cheap apartment. It was great, we got take-out and sat on the sofa watching TV, went to the cinema and got wrapped up to walk along the windswept beach. Felt normal again!
As we had stayed put for 3 days we had to catch up by driving almost 1,000 km in 2 days to take the van back to Adelaide.
After returning the van we were excited to be sleeping in a nice warm bed again or so we thought...we had our first bad hostel expereince in Adelaide. A hostel with no windows, a smegy kitchen and the smell of sewage in the basement. It was scank so we took out our frustrations by writing a bad review on trip advisor!!! Ahhh thats better..breath and relax!
We liked Adelaide, it was small enough to see everything on foot. We checked out the museum, art gallery, Sir Donald Bradman exhibition and went to the Adeliade Oval. We went in for free and were surprised to find a match being played between Victoria and South Australia...Steve was happy!
We also hired a peddle boat along the Torrens river in Adelaide and fed black swans by hand who followed us around. We also did a bit of shopping, oh and Lucy had her hair chopped again..even shorter!
Our last evening in Adelaide was spent at a comedy night, where local comedians had a 10 min slot, great fun eve.
Next onto Perth via the Indian Pacific Train (1800 miles), 2 nights on a train in a seat!!!!!
