Travel day again today. It dawned sunny and bright for a change and the trip from Ft. Victoria RV Park to the Swartz Bay ferry terminal was uneventful. Paul advised to allow an hour for the trip, but it actually only took about 30 minutes, so we were first in the over height line. The ferry trip to Vancouver (Tsawwassen) was nice since it was sunny and we could actually take pictures. We were on one of the newer ferries, and got a seat near a window. Got a good picture of a ferry passing fairly close to ours in Active Passage.
Once off the ferry, the clouds began to gather in the Fraser Valley. Rain actually started within 5 minutes of leaving the ferry, and there were two big rainstorms in the Abbotsford region. It stopped raining (almost) when we arrived at Cottonwood Meadows RV Country Club, so setting up was fairly easy. This is a nice little campground and it's not too noisy considering that the highway is fairly close.
The rain started again around 4 pm, so we decided to feed the dogs and go in search of a lake for Tucker for tomorrow. Didn't find the lake since the sign was obscured by rain, but we did manage to shop for a few groceries and noted that the price of gas is $1.01/litre here! We'll fill the motor home before leaving.
Although the campground advertises WiFi Internet, we are unable to get it. The computer detects the network (good to excellent signal strength), but the network won't assign us an IP address. The nice lady in the office says it has something to do with the rain! Every time it rains the network isn't accessible. Somehow, I suspect that something else is causing it.

It rained almost all night last night, fairly heavily at times. However, by 9am it looks almost like we might get some sun. Of course, that was just the weather man having a little fun with us. It was trying to rain again by 9:30.
Elaine decided that the dogs couldn't last without having a bath, and today was the day. Actually, bathing them in the motor home is easier since they don't have a big house to run and hide in.
SURPRISE!!! By noon, most of the clouds had cleared and the sun came out. We got a tee time for 2:30 at the Cheam Golf Course. First golf of the year. We did take umbrellas and coats, but didn't need them. During the game, we saw rabbits (bunnies, not jack rabbits), a heron, numerous birds and squirrels. To top it off, for $14.95 you get 18 holes of golf and a burger and fries at the clubhouse (Monday Madness). We had to add a few dollars for beer and extra food, but still, we got a game and a meal for two for about $40. Elaine won by a stroke or two...everything can't go well in one day. And we couldn't play all 18 holes...no stamina due to lack of practice. We played the front nine and then played #18 on the way back to the clubhouse.
