sunset over Rotorua lake

Glorious sunshine for a change.... but we travelled all day 435km to Rotorua. Navigating Auckland at lunch time along the SH1 motorway went well and quickly. Traffic was not so bad as trying to travel in Auckland at 7pm at night as we had on the first day. We just sailed through the centre on the motorway in the right hand lane.

Arrived ar Rotorua about 4.30pm ....a long 7hour journey but worth it.

First impressions of Rotorua were good if not a bit smelly. The campsite had steam rising all round it from the ground and hot sand pools on the lakeside. There was a fabulous sunset over the lake as we cycled round the lake front from the campsite before settling for a meal in the van.
