|This morning we were treated to a wonderful full English breakfast and a big surprise when we walked into the dining room....here we are in this quaint bed and breakfast and were greeted by six burly gentleman who seemed totally out of place in a B & B. Ten minutes later, the "noisy neighbors" from across the hall from our room came down and all of us had the most entertaining visit full of laughter and fun. These guys were all from the British Army and were at their annual Platoon Reunion which they hold every year in Shrewsbury and according to the gal that served us, these guys have been staying at this B & B for years. "Tony and Tommy" were our noisy neighbors and were quite the characters and had all sorts of travel advice and stories to share and when we departed they had hugs and handshakes for us like we had been old friends for years.....Barb even got a kiss on the cheek from Tommy, who was a big flirt with all the girls according to Tony. We made our way to the train station and headed for Birmingham where we changed trains to come back to London. Upon our arrival in London we caught what seemed to be the longest bus ride ever from Euston Station to Victoria Station in the heat and humidity and we felt and looked like drowned rats by the time we got to the area of London where we were going to spend the night. What was supposed to be a ten minute walk turned out to be an hour's worth of wandering about because the guy at the Victoria Train Station whom we asked for directions sent us towards Belgrave Street instead of Belgrave Road. In any event we finally found our place and after getting settled, we found a launderette to get our laundry done at and also had a couple of pints at the pub across the street while waiting for our clothes to dry. While there Barb met a gentleman who used to live in Spain who gave her some pointers on where to go when we get to Spain. We also met a couple who lived in the area and found out the woman was originally from Winnipeg and has been living in London for 21 years. After getting our laundry done we got some groceries to have simple bite to eat (read cheaper) in our room and get ourselves organized for the trip to Brussels, Belgium tomorrow.
