We arrived at our old RV park from last year in Van Nuys, CA about 1 p.m. We got a different spot from last year which is good since the spot we had last year would not allow us to pick up our DISH signal. The park has cable which we used last year, but I miss seeing the Stars and since we now have a DVR and wonder what life would be like without it, we wanted a space with a clear view of the sky.
I didn't take any pictures of the park last year, so here are a few of our surroundings. This street is very close to the park and to me, typifies what one thinks of when one thinks of Los Angeles

Right next to the park is this TV studio

Since this is California, flowers and beautiful flora are everywhere. Of course the park has orange trees

Here is our space for the next two months

We spent our first week getting updated and registered at all the casting agencies we knew about. We also decided to bite the bullet and pay for a calling service, so we don't have to spend all our time on the phone running out our cell minutes listening to the job line.
We also invested in some posh frocks (a tuxedo for Jeff and cocktail dress for me) since our age bracket seems to most often get cast in those "upscale" parties. We don't throw our money around on costume pieces either. My cocktail dress (gold and silver glittery top with black chiffon skirt) cost a whopping $3.35. Jeff's Bill Blass tuxedo was $23. Gotta love those LA thrift stores.
Since the writer's strike is over, things are gearing up - not quite up to last year's number of jobs yet, but working on it. When we get booked, we let everyone know what it is.
