Last one!

Today was one of those "wowser" days. We drove about 170 miles to La Jolla and San Diego. We wanted Cecil and Glenda to see this beautiful area. We got up early and went to Cracker Barrel for breakfast before our drive. We arrived in La Jolla at around 11 A.M.

We took them on a four hour tour of some of our favorite places. Our first stop was La Jolla Beach. The seals were all over the beach and the rocks, it was awesome. La Jolla means "The Jewel," in Spanish, and it is a jewel.

After La Jolla, we drove over to see the Cabrillo National Monument. Cecil and Glenda walked down to the tidepools while Jerry and I sat on the bench and just enjoyed the incredible view. After the tidepools we visited the National Monument. The National Monument is in honor of Juan Rodríguez Cabrillo. He led the first European expedition to explore what is now the west coast of the United States. Cabrillo departed from the port of Navidad, Mexico, on June 27, 1542. Three months later he arrived at "a very good enclosed port." That port is known today as San Diego bay. The views from this area are incredible.

After the monument we toured the waterfront area of San Diego with all the huge ships and beautiful flowers before driving back to Yuma. We had a wonderful time viewing the area with Cecil & Glenda. I will let the photos tell the rest of the story. Check back later for more from Yuma.
