|Edinburgh, what a fantastic city!!! We walked to city from B&B via Arthur's Seat, a huge volcanic rock on edge of city that many fit tourists climb to have great view of area but we continued walking up the 'Royal Mile' to city centre. Ok the city is currently in 'Fringe' mode and many, many actors, artists etc everywhere in Mall but great atmosphere. Continued up the Mall and arrived at 'Edinburgh Castle' that stands high up on top of volcanic rock. We joined informative walking tour by Fred and loved the Crown Jewels, Stone of Destiny, War Memorial, 1pm gun, Grand Hall and really interesting underground prisoners of war exhibition that held prisoners from many different countries that even made their own money! Loved St Mary's Chapel, the oldest building in Edinburgh that if you have enough money apparently can be used for weddings! Walked back to B&B then drove up the coast to St Andrews. Arrived at the stunning Cathedral ruins complete with tall tower then walked around the corner to St Andrews Castle on waters edge also mostly ruins but very grim tales to tell with underground tunnels and men murdered for their faith outside the front door!!! Next stop Golf course that overlooks an amazing coastline and wide sandy beach. We looked on at the 18th green and watched several players play the hole. The course is just perfect and so so so green! Enjoyed our dinner overlooking the stunning beach view next to the golf course with other tourists, American golfers relaxing after their round. Another GREAT day in Scotland.
