Ginny's Adventures 2009 travel blog

I drove 400 miles today and took 10 hours to do it! I had to call Blue Ox because I couldn't get the "brake buddy" that brakes the car when I brake the MH to work properly. They think the system may have a leak in it so that it doesn't hold the air compression, so I have to send it to them so they can fix it and send it back to me. Who knows where I will be when I get it back! I'll have to be very careful when I do the Rockies with a car that won't stop as I stop! Lots of people travel without a brake assist mechanism in their towed cars, so don't worry, family and friends.

I had wanted to stop in Wichita Falls to get a couple of pictures, but that city was hard to get around and I tried! I got gas easy enough, but the road to get back onto the highway was closed and I had to take a detour. Then I tried to get to the Visitor Center where I planned on stopping to see the falls and a statue, but that had room for 1 RV and I didn't feel like I would be safe there overnight.

I did see the falls as I was driving though. They are man made because the real ones washed away over 100 years ago! The city was named after the falls and an Indian woman who tested the depth of the water and found it to be "Wee-chi-tah" or waist deep. A brochure I have says that there is a building called "the littlest skyscraper" in town. The architect presented blueprints to stockholders indicating the dimensions in feet but built it in inches instead (in 1919)! The building came out to be 10 feet wide, 18 feet deep, and 30 feet high. The stairs between the 4 floors are like skinny ladders. He stole away with the proceeds of the construction and was never caught!

I spent the night at a rest area where there was no truck parking, so I wondered if a cop would come and kick me out, but other RVs parked overnight, too. I ran the generator for 3 hours to watch American Idol and use the computer.
