Lake Mead dry in ten years?

We were supposed to stay at Katherine Landing until the 14th, but the weather forecast was not looking good. Wind gusts in excess of 50 mph were supposed to be on Thursday, so we decided to leave early and drive on Wednesday without the wind.

Since our reservation began on the 14th, we decided to boondock at Las Vegas Bay NRA

the one night. It is really a nice campground as you can see from my walk through with Madison.

The winds that we had wanted to avoid driving through came that night, and they were horrendous. Las Vegas had straight winds of over 60 mph, strong enough to pick up a mobile home and throw it in the front yard of a neighbor as we saw on the news.

Because we were only staying one night, we didn't put our stabilizers down, and we were rocking and rolling like we were on the lake instead of beside it. Or should I say beside what used to be the lake. Lake Mead has lost so much water that Las Vegas Bay is no longer on the bay. What used to be a sort of beach is now high and dry - more of a parking lot.

If you look closely at this picture, you can see where the old water line was.

, but nothing like it was. Watch the video and you can understand why they are saying that Lake Mead could be dry in ten years.

We left the next morning, met Aunt Kaki on the road, and had the long drive of 8 miles to the Thousand Trails campground where we'll be for the next two weeks.
