We awoke to the sound of rain on the roof.

Now sitting with coffee talking about whether to go or stay. More later.......

Later....

As I said, we awoke to the sound of rain on the roof of our RV. Marilyn & I decided to see if it would be possible to remain in the site we had, for one more night. Alas, the site we had was reserved and we would have to move to another site in the park if we decided to stay. That made it easy to get ready and leave, in spite of the occasional thunder and lightning.

We finished our coffee and then got busy. We were all hooked up and left the park at 8:30 AM.

Driving in the heavy city traffic is no fun in good weather, but add in the rain and it was a bit nerve racking.

By the time we crossed the Huey P. Long bridge, the rain had pretty much stopped, and by the time we reached I-55 North, the sun was shining and we were happy that we had decided to leave.

North of Hammond, LA is a small town of Amite City, and we had planned to meet one of our readers there. Jim Gibson has been reading our blog for awhile, and wanted to meet us.

We finally met up at a filling station/restaurant off of exit 50.

Jim is a nice guy who says he feels as if he knows us because of our blog. He sent some nice gifts home with us and that is very much appreciated. Thank you, Jim!

Also, Jim’s mother, Ruby, made a nice blanket for our granddaughter.

Thank you Ruby!

We may have to take a few pictures to post for you, of the gifts Jim made for us. He is a talented man!

We spent about an hour and ½ with this gentleman and then said “So Long” and headed north once again.

We arrived at Ameristar Casino RV Park in Vicksburg, MS, right at 2:00 PM, and are all settled in.

We met a nice couple from California, parked next door, who are on the way to Washington, DC.

We talked with them for awhile before going in to rest.

Marilyn & I drove to a Cracker Barrel for dinner. The food was good but the service was terrible!

It took awhile to simply get a glass of water, which was empty by the time our food was served. The water glass remained empty throughout our meal, even though we had asked two waitresses for more water. Our “waitress” finally served our biscuits and a fresh glass of water after we finished our meal.

I complained to the manager and left no tip at all.

The so-called waitress acted as if she was angry that she had a job and would rather have been on welfare!

We will not return to that establishment!

We will enjoy watching some college hoops on TV tonight. Snacks are ready!

We had a reall good day today, thanks to the good people along the pathway. We don't allow things like the poor service at a restaurant to bother us. It just saved me some money is the way I look at it.

Life is Good!
