We left Apache Junction on Thursday and drove by the Super Bowl site on the way out. What a lot of stuff!! We had planned to stop at a small town called Wikkiup about 150 miles along the way, but we decided to head on in to Katherine Landing one day early. We were listening to one of our new audio books and the time just seemed to fly by. By early afternoon, we pulled into Katherine's Landing NRA. We were able to get the same site we had last year which we think is a very good place to stay. There are no hookups here. We have to haul our water and use our generator, but it is really nice anyway.
Friday morning, we picked Kaki up at her place and saw her new RV (new to her). Last year, she had a Class C, now she's gone back to a motor home and likes it better.

We went out for breakfast at the Colorado Belle casino which offers a ham steak as big as a plate, plus two eggs and toast for $3.49! We took half the ham home and had omelets the next day.
We love being at Katherine's Landing. It's very much like a desert wilderness, but in less than 15 minutes, you can be at Casino Row in Laughlin, NV. Here's a picture of the road going down the campground toward Mohave Lake.

We have enjoyed the quiet and the noise. We can stay in camp and have great vistas and solitude, or we can hit the casinos. Probably the reason I haven't updated the blog in such a long time is that we are really enjoying ourselves here.
Kaki has initiated us into the art of bingo. She goes to the Avi Casino which in on the Indian reservation on Thursdays because you can play bingo for free and their breakfast buffet is half price. We've gone with her twice to play bingo and enjoy the buffet. It's not often you can spend that much time in a casino and spend so little. We have, of course, also played the slots - pennies - because we're basically cheap, but we have had a fun time.
Valentine's Day we will leave Katherine Landing and head for Las Vegas. Hope the pennies can last for two more weeks.
All the news is that the writer's strike in Hollywood will be over soon, so we are planning to be in LA on March 1st.
