Crawfish Traps in the water

Today was a travel day because we wanted to get through Houston on a Sunday morning, in an effort to avoid the heavy traffic which is so routine there.

I was up before 6:00 and had the coffee ready when Marilyn managed to crawl out from under the covers.

We drank our coffee with a sense of urgency because we wanted to have things ready to roll and still have time to say so long to our friends.

Several of them came out to watch as we finished up and hooked up to the trailer.

When we had finished our checklist and had the rig ready to go, we went inside to share hugs with the group.

It was exactly 8:30 when we pulled out of the driveway, with “On The Road Again” playing on the sound system.

It took us just one hour to reach I-10 and head east toward Louisiana.

One more hour passed and we were at Beaumont, Texas.

We reached Betty’s RV Park just a few minutes after 1:00 PM, and Betty got us registered and then she helped us to get backed in to the only available site in the Park.

The sites are all on gravel and are quite close together, with tight parking spaces for the tow vehicle as well.

Betty is a lively lady with a bubbly personality, and makes you feel welcome and part of the family, as soon as you arrive.

We dumped the holding tanks, turned on the furnace and water heater, and relaxed. We did get cleaned up in time for the daily “Happy Hour” at 4:30.

We met some nice people and learned that two friends of ours had left the space we are now parked in, just this morning.

Don & Estelle, we wish you well wherever you are tonight.

We plan to get a good night of sleep and sleep in as late as we wish tomorrow. There are plans in the works to eat some good Cajun food tomorrow, and maybe to visit the Tabasco plant at Avery Island.

We do want to mention that we have been enjoying some tasty coffee each morning, thanks to new friends, Boris & Natasha, who gave us a gift of flavored coffee when they came to visit us in the valley. Thank you Paul & Mary! (Real names)

We also want to thank Terry & Sherry in Santa Fe, who hosted the group of classmates for four days or more. It was a fine time and we really liked getting to know Terry better.

So we look forward to another day in Cajun country, with music and good food. Maybe we’ll buy some for the freezer, to enjoy later in our journey.

After all, we must remember……….Life is Good!
