We had several plans after we left Pecos. One was to stop overnight at Van Horn - a place we had stayed at last year, but when we got to Van Horn, we were both feeling really good and it was quite early, so we decided to push on to a park near El Paso. By the time we got through El Paso, we thought about stopping at Las Cruces - just a litte further on. By the time we got to Las Cruces, we said, "Oh what the heck, Deming is only an hour or less - let's keep on." We wound up traveling about 345 miles that day which is really unusual for us.

We stayed at the SKP park in Deming which is also utilitarian, but not quite as bad as Pecos. We decided to go ahead and stay a week since we got a break on the weekly rate, then we had several plans while we were there. We were going to go the Rock Hound State Park, visit the Mimbres Museum (which was closed for renovation when we were here last year, visit the wineries, and maybe take a day trip to Silver City. How many of these did we do? NONE!! Why? Because it was soooooo COLD!!!! At one point it got down to 14 with a 7 wind chill. This is not why we bought our ticket. After the 7 windchill, we decided to get the heck out of Dodge and left two days early.

We probably would have left even sooner except we were waiting for our mail which included our new DVR. We went through a lot of rigamarole from Dish network to get it (they sent it to the wrong place, send the wrong thing, yada, yada, yada), but finally we have it and we love playing with it.

We did have the very good fortune to meet Froggi Donna - someone whom we only knew from the discussion forum.

It was really nice to see her in person.

One of the COOOOLLLLDDDD mornings, I was walking Madison around the park and came upon a cat who had found the warmest place in her people's rig.

Leave to a cat to know the best place to nap.

We happily packed up to leave on Saturday morning looking for warmer temps. Along the way, we started to see some of the better scenery

West Texas can be the pits, but some of the places in the desert are beautiful!
