Larry & Lee Ann's Journey travel blog

Started off with pretty blue skies, turning pretty gray about now...

This area is one of my favorites on Hwy 318, a cool...

There are some pretty good slides going on, sorry about the blurring,...

The Upper Pahranagat Lake could sure use more rain...

We finally got on the road at noon, after a pretty frustrating morning. The tires that we intended to install on the 5'er this morning did not work out at all. Even though they were the same lettering as the original Goodyear's, these were about 1 inch taller. Oh no...Larry knew we were in trouble when they had to jack the 5'er up higher to put the new tires on. They should have fit in the same space as the ones we were replacing. There was just no room left between the tandem wheels, and they would have 'kissed' every time we turned or hit a bump in the road. Well, another of many lessons learned. I was worried about doing this on our last day in town in case there was an issue. Should have listened to my gut instinct.

About 20 miles out of town the sunny blue skies turned gray. The temperature stayed in the high 40's most of the drive and we didn't hit any rain until about 10 miles outside of Vegas. And it wasn't much, a few drops here and there. We arrived about 5pm, too dark to set up comfortably. So we just parked out front for the night. We'll put out the bedroom slide, send up the satellite dish and be just fine. The cloudy sky cleared enough for a pretty sunset. We shared a pizza with Bonnie & Larry and watched a Hallmark movie before retiring.

We got 11.2 mpg today. And the price of diesel continues to drop. $2.39 a gallon for this trip. $45.00 worth today. It's been running well over $100 for quite awhile, so we are pleased. And the truck has been running so well since we started plugging it in. Sure doesn't like the cold temperatures! We'll be in the Vegas area for several weeks, so if you are also, give us a call. We'd love to see you!
