Entering Estes Park with the Rockies in the foreground.

Well, we left Wellington, Colorado today and headed up, up and farther up, to Estes Park, Colorado. The trip took us from an elevation of 4800 feet to over 7200 feet! The drive was spectacular. We decide that it would be easier to travel without hooking up due to the winding roads and steepness at many points. Good thing too since it gave great photo ops with the motorhome out in front.

The views were spectacular and the camera of course doesn't do them justice. We should be up here for at least a week and hope to get some fishing in as well as hitting the Rocky Mountain Park (which is just up the road). You can check out the campsite that we are at www.elkmeadowrv.com/ and click on the 'history' of the campground... very interesting. The lodge is supposed to be opening up for the season so that will be fun to look at the inside. Hopefully we will get some elk visitors in the morning which the kids will love!
