We had to have Jared back at the airport today around 3:30 P.M. We got up early and had a great lunch at the Taste of India Restaurant before heading over to Riverfront Park in Spokane, Washington. The 100 acre park is located along the Spokane River, not far upstream from the Spokane Falls. It was created for Expo '74, a World's Fair event. The defining feature of the park is the Pavilion, which is marked by a 145-foot-tall metal frame and wire shell that formed the US Pavilion tent during Expo '74. The park is well known for the Riverfront Park Carousel, as well as an IMAX theatre, clock tower, skyride over the falls, a small amusement park for kids, a skating rink during the winter months, and the Spokane River Centennial Trail which passes through it.

We decided to ride the skyride for a great view of Spokane Falls. The ride took us past art deco City Hall, then it gradually dropped down 200 feet over the Huntington Park Natural Area. From there you continue across the Spokane River, under the historic Monroe Street bridge and return to Riverfront Park. I was worried I would not be able to get good pictures from the ride, but they paused us right over the top of the falls with incredible views.

We all had a great time and highly recommend this ride and the Riverfront Park to everyone. It is a beautiful park, we will be going back several times before leaving the area. The more we see of Spokane, the more impressed we are with this awesome city.

We had a wonderful time with Jared and can't wait for him to come back again. Check back later for more from Washington.
