Today is the “birthday” of the United States Army. It was adopted as the American Continental Army by the Continental Congress on this date in 1775. It’s also the date on which the Second Continental Congress adopted the American flag, 13 red and white stripes and a field of blue with stars representing the states, in 1777. Unfortunately we can’t fly the flag today because it’s too windy. I usually drape it from our awning, but if I put the awning out it’s likely to blow off. We’ve had that happen once and I don’t want to have to deal with that again.
