Carpes at Shippensburg PA Wal*Mart

Welcome to West Virginia

Welcome to Maryland

Welcome to Pennsylvania

Despite last evening's heat we ended up getting a good nite's sleep. Using our salon vent fan we were able to close all the windows except for those in the bedroom. The fan drew in cooler air and before long we were reaching for our covers. By early morning it was cool enough to snuggle into our bed and dream sweet dreams (such as, the fridge was cooling nicely!)

That said, we did get a "wakeup" call when the parking lot sweeping truck did its "thing". Those things can be pretty noisy and we were both up wondering it it'll be coming thru the side of the coach during one of its passes.

We were up around 0600 and got our tea brewed. Breakfast followed and then getting the coach ready for the road. Since we were boondocking Carpe Diem was still connected so getting ready was much easier. We like easy!

Bob rolled wheels at 0800 and we retraced our route to I 64 and then back on I 81 north. About 83 miles up the road we saw a sign for diesel at $2.999/gallon, a very good price. This was at Sheetz, a regional chain that has gas/convenience stores in several states. This outlet was also a truck stop with a dozen truck lanes. We added 78 gallons of diesel to Carpe's tank and were on our way in fewer than 20 minutes. This was good...

Continuing north we passed thru Winchester VA and then crossed the line (state line, that is...) into West Virginia. Twenty some miles later we left West Virginia into Maryland for a dozen miles. Then into Sandi's birth state of Pennsylvania, where the clouds closed in and the rain came...

We continued north about thirty miles to Shippensburg where we pulled into the Wal*Mart and found a level area in which to send the nite. Bob managed to get all the outside chores finished before the rain came. And, with the rain, came refreshingly cooler temperatures. As this is written it is mid afternoon and the temperature outside is 58° F.

Today's run was a comparatively short 204 miles with an astonishing 9 mpg fuel economy.

As an aside... In Pennsylvania we saw signs for diesel at a Sheetz outlet for $3.899/gallon, Filling up in Virginia saved us 90¢ per gallon.
