Lunch break on the edge of Lake Celyn; setting up tripod

The two us having a lunch break at Lake Celyn, near Bala,...

Monday April 14

Robert left the hotel early this a.m. to catch the bus to Chester railway station en route back to Scotland via train. We did not leave the hotel until after 9:00 a.m., and our first stop was at the Pentre Buchan crematorium grounds where we went for a walk to say "hello" to Menna and Arthur in the Daffodil Meadow, a small meadow surrounded by trees where their ashes rest.

We the drove towards Llangollen via the highest village in Wales, Bwlchgwyn, and up and over through the Horseshoe Pass to Llangollen. Our next stop was Bala where we had a morning coffee and bought a picnic lunch, which we ate by the side of Lake Celyn in the sunshine before driving on to Machynlleth. We followed the coastal highway to Cardigan stopping briefly at Tesco to top up the British mobile phone with before driving to Richard and Pat Harman's house near Llechryd.

It was a pleasant late afternoon and we sat in their garden and chatted over a cup of tea before coming in for dinner. Pat had prepared a great meal and we had a fine evening catching up on news around the village. Their cottage is delightful, especially the renovated sitting room where the attic has been opened up to show the roof beams and a loft and skylights have been added. We watched the TV news and then went to bed at a good hour.
