Douglas to Gillette Moose
Jun 25, 2013
|We had a grand time with George and Janice at happy hour – we also invited 2 other couples to join us. Happy hour came to an abrupt end when the wind picked up and the rain started.
We talked a bit with G & J and decided to join them at the Moose instead of the church parking lot we were going to use in Gillette.
The wind all died down before bedtime so we had all the windows open and enjoyed the cool to sleep – until about 2 am!!! The sprinklers turned on. So we got the curb side of the rig well washed. Then when we thought it was all done and we were just falling asleep - - The sprinklers in the center went on. Because they shot in a circle it would be about 30 seconds (just enough to almost fall asleep) and whap, whap, whap the spray would hit the side of the rig. It soon turned off and we slept well for the rest of the night.
In the morning, we both went over for a nice hot shower at the shower house and then ate breakfast. About 8 Ron went over to the LP distributor to see if they were open and to figure out how to get in to fill our LP tank. While he was gone, I got the rig ready for the road.
It took longer to pay the bill than to get the tank filled with LP as they were training a new person. We hooked up the pick-up and headed north on 59.
The wind was coming from the West – Southwest so we did a bit of rocking and rolling. But it wasn't too bad.
The scenery was great with cattle, sheep and antelope along the road. It was very rolling country so you weren't sure what was over the next rise.
We had no trouble going thru Gillette and found the Moose Lodge on the second try. We are now set up with G&J with Art and Caroline close by. We all go into the Escapade on Thursday so we will probably make a caravan of it.
Travel Day 10 - 118.7 miles
Anyway that is the way our lives have been going. Hope you and yours are well and happy. ENJOY!!
