March 25 - 27/13

Mike and I headed towards Henderson, Louisiana on I-10, to stay at the Cajun Palms RV Resort, A nice cool day to travel.

Spent the day in Lafayette, Louisiana geocaching getting different counties and older dated caches.

March 27, travelled east to Baton Rouge to look for caches there. Mike picked two cache sites close together at the State Capital building of Louisiana. One of the caches was on the grounds of Old Arsenal Museum in the Arsenal Park. Then we walked around Arsenal Park to get the second one. There were a few monuments and touristy photo opportunities throughout the park. Mike and I decided to go into the Louisiana State Capital building to see if there was a lookout for tourists. The building was adorned with statues, sculptured architectural fixtures around the top of the building, and sculpture inlays on the outside walls. We visited the House of Representatives and The State Legislature courtrooms. We were able to go up to the top and get a 360 degree view of Baton Rouge after a complete security screening as if we were going through airport security. We had dinner at Jason’s Deli.

Campground Notes:

Good Sam on daily $32.00 per night E-50a/W/S, concrete with picnic table, free wi-fi (some domains blocked), easy satellite set-up, somewhat quiet, amenities at least 10 minutes.
