Overnite Hospitality a la Wal Mart
North of Birmingham in Gardendale

I-65 Approaching Montgomery

Huge Auto Plant South of Montgomery

Driving through Birmingham

Sandi Takes the Helm

We left the Escapees Plantation park in Summerdale (southeast of Mobile) about nine this morning and drove to just north of Birmingham. We added 275 miles to Carpe's odometer in the process. Traffic was fairly heavy and, with the exception of construction south of Birmingham, it generally moved along without hindering our stately progress.

We stopped for lunch at a rest stop, which has become our norm. We've found that taking a break is important so we try not to hurry, rather we enjoy our repast at our own dining table.

We fueled up at the Flying J north of Birmingham (Carpe achieved an amazing 9.9 miles per gallon for this tank), and then continued a few more miles north to a Wal Mart in Gardendale. We'll spend the nite here and complete our run to Huntsville in the morning. Tomorrow's forecast is for T-storms later in the day so we're motivated to get settled in before they arrive.
