Bumming Around with Daisy 2011 travel blog

Ever since I injured my right foot I have been having some strong itching sensations and rashes on my face, head, chest and arms, as well as irritation in my throat. I’ve been wracking my brain trying to think what I’ve been eating or doing since the injury that could be causing this problem. Finally it dawned on me that the only thing that is different is the arnica I’ve been taking for the swelling in my foot.

I did a Google search and learned that amounts larger than what is found in food are likely unsafe when taken by mouth. In fact, arnica is considered poisonous and has caused death. When taken by mouth it can also cause irritation of the mouth and throat, stomach pain, vomiting, diarrhea, skin rashes, shortness of breath, a fast heartbeat, an increase in blood pressure, heart damage and coma. Yikes! Some of those are very serious, so I’ve quit taking arnica.
