|We finally left Melbourne at 9:50am on Tuesday. Arrived safely in Singapore at local time 2pm, we looked out and saw taxis but then we thought "let's catch the train", so we took MRT(train system) and got to Sheraton Towers Singapore half hour later. After having a shower we headed into Ochard Road, busy main shopping area in Singapore, millions of desingers store, huge department stores, shops after shops... We had dinner at food court, had great chinese dinner with our first tigar beer. Our goal is to taste local beer in every country. Tigar beer tasted good, I felt it bit flat every time I had it, but it was nice, very easy to drink a few.
Day 2, Lexi enjoyed time in gym at Sheraton, while I spent my morning in Sauna and pool as I didn't have a proper pair of shoes. We visited Clarke Quay, popular river side party spot with fanky bars and clubs. We hopped on the 45mins river cruise along Singapore river, which gave us a great view of city and famous Marlion Statue. Then we headed off to China town, and wondered through all the little street malls, lots of clothes, and facinating chiense food ingredents and medicines. we didn't even know what they really were. We had yum cha for lunch, which were really good. We always try to choose the restaurant with full of locals.
At night, we were off to the Night Safari at Singapore Zoo. We went on the tram ride and tried a few walking trails. We saw heaps animals such as tigars, elephants, lions, leopards etc. It was amazing to see some animals with no fence between us. We did the trail to see tigars, we looked at it, and the tigar started to run towards us!! It was a huge tigar probably more than 2m long, and we were so scared and ran away, even though there was a glass window there. The Zoo also had Halloween theme, we had a great time there. We got back to Sheraton and had a few more drink at bar, so damn expensive!!
Day 3, We had a late start, we headed into Little India, it was so busy as they were celebrating the end of Ramadan. shops and markets were everywhere selling all sorts of food, jewellies, incences etc. We went into Hindu temple, it was so good. there weren't any non-indian there. we took our shoes off following everyone elses doing. Hiro tried free food stuff given in the temple and ate amongst full of indian monks. It was curry-flavored rice with a slice of apple, it wasn't too bad. Night time, we walked along the river again, and ended up in the art centre. We watched performers dancing there. We had dinner at Boat Quay, Chinese restaurant along the river, that was best food we had in Singapore. It was Si-sen style so spicy chinese food. great. After dinner we headed to Clarke Quay again to see what it's like at night time. There were so many people!! Heaps bars and clubs are open with unique themes. We had a beer each, costed us $12 each!! Alcohol is so expensive in Singapore, so we are leaving Singapore tomorrow, heading to Malaysia!!
