When I asked my fellow bikers who commercialized the song 'BACK IN THE SADDLE AGAIN' the consensus was Aerosmith...I thank them for my theme today. I have never had more inquiries...in a positive light...as to how is your A__? My reply...I am happy to report..."in good shape thank you"! Hello cycle, my old friend....and Three Muskateers cheered my return. OK, enough of that.

A delightful 57 mile journey on an almost empty I80 (it was Sunday). Desert vistas were serene and unexpectedly green. Surprisingly cool for June. We departed with the temp in the 40's and it never got much above 65. A few miles of 10 knot headwinds but mostly very light so that we arrived in Battle Mountain around 12:30. I have attached more photos today..1. even though this is in the middle of nowhere, the internet connection is quite good, and 2 I was in excellent spirits so I saw fun things in almost anything. Yesterday I commented re the Washington Post rating of Battle Mountain...a couple of the pictures indicate veracity.

Tomorrow is our last stop in Nevada (Elko) with a modest 71 miles. That will be followed by back to back centuries through Southern Utah to reach SLC for our first "official" rest day on the 12th.

For those of you interested in other views of the trip, america by bike is also keeping a journal on ther website. www.abbike.com click on the Journal tab, then Cross Country Challenge 2008.

'till tomorrow...ciao
