The New York State Canal System consists of the Oswego, Erie and Champlain Canal systems. We will follow the Oswego Canal system south to Oneida Lake and then head east along the eastern half of the Erie Canal System which will meet up with the Hudson River at Troy, NY.
After locking through the first 5 locks on the Oswego Canal, we spent the night at the Fulton Lock. We walked through town, our first taste of New York state and found a burger for dinner. Everything seemed very foreign, which it was and we were amazed at the number of banks and lawyer's offices which outnumbered all other establishments in town.
