Today we signed all the paperwork (and payed all the money) for a 70 acre parcel of land with a small, 5 year old double-wide manufactured home (trailer) on it. It's a very good site for us - views of King Mountain across the valley, lots of woods for Nizhoni (aka 'Girly') to run in, but close enough to town or major shopping and health care needs. The little house is fine for now - we'll leave it up in the air whether we want to build a more substantial cabin or not. The Title search is the last thing holding up the 'official' transfer of property - very, very convoluted title history. Once the lawyer is OK with the final documents, then we will take possession - long distance, since we are about to embark on the big Alaskan adventure. Instead of heading down the West Coast when we're through with the Alaskan tour, we'll head back east so we can spend a month or so getting the place in some shape for the winter, and then our return in the spring.
