We had a great week in Milton, WV where we got to spend time with our friends Chris and Dave. As usual this meant lots of fun conversation and plenty of good food. We just had to make another trip to Hillbilly Hotdog in LaSage, WV. This time we were there to see a hungry young man take the “Home-wrecker Challenge”; eating a 15” hotdog with all the fixings in less than 12 minutes, he did it in about 9 and a half minutes, his prize, a Hillbilly Hotdog T-shirt and probably an afternoon of indigestion. The weather was much more pleasant than our July visit so we were actual able to spend some time outdoors, Dave grilled a couple of times and one day he made us one of his specialties, Mushroom Pork Chops. Another evening we went to Barnyard BBQ, in Hurricane, WV to listen to local musicians and friends of Chris and Dave, brother and sisters, Gerald, Debbie and Donna. Good food and great music…..a real treat.

When we were in New York we stopped off to visit my sister-in-law, Patti, my brother Doug’s wife. We happened to mention that we were headed back through West Virginia on our way south and were surprised to find out that Patti’s sister Betty lives in Huntington. It turned out that Betty and her husband Pete’s home is only 9 miles from the KOA so we made plans to get together with them while we were in the area. Bob and I have known Betty since we were all teenagers and when Betty married Pete he and my brother Doug became just like brothers. We spent several hours reminiscing and comparing all our “Doug” stories; Doug passed away in 2000 but he has surely not been forgotten. Talk about a small world, we figured out while we there that Pete is Bob’s nephew Scott’s wife Karen’s cousin. It was great to get together with them.

The next stop on our trip south is Bluff City, Tennessee, just south of Bristol. Bristol is located on the border of Virginia and Tennessee; the border runs right through downtown, Virginia is on one side of the main street and Tennessee is on the other. We visited this area in 2008 so we don’t have plans for much sight seeing this week. We are staying at Lakeview RV Park, a nice clean park with all the conveniences we like. There is a flea market across the road from the campground so we spent a few hours there yesterday, found a couple things we couldn’t live without, half the fun of flea markets is seeing all the different kinds of junk people have for sale, you just never know what you will find.
