Rainy Travel Day to Colbert, OK
Oct 26, 2009
|We slept fitfully last night. I think we both were aware of the clock problem from the day before, and kept looking at the clock to see what time it said.
We did finally roll out of bed a few minutes before 5:00 this morning.
It was a travel day!
Naturally, it was raining cats and dogs!
I waited for enough daylight to see my way to the dumpster, without tripping over a picnic table or something like that.
The rain slacked off a bit with the increasing light of day, allowing me to dump the tanks, carry out the trash, and get all hooked up for our trip today.
We were on the road at 8:00 AM, drove 282 miles and arrived at 1:15 PM, averaging 10.7 mpg for the trip.
We made one stop for fuel and paid $2.719 at a “Love’s” station.
Tomorrow we have only 85 miles to travel and look forward to a short day of towing the rig.
We have no internet service here at this campground, but the cable TV is good. LOL I will write the journal entry today but will have to wait until we arrive at the Vineyards to post it.
This used to be a KOA and was pretty nice, neat and clean, but with few amenities. It is now privately owned and is called “RV Station”.
There is a Montana RV Dealer about 100 feet from our site.
Some of the sites here are concrete and long enough for our 36’ trailer, although we did have to park the truck on the grass.
The width of the concrete pad is enough for the 5th wheel, but not much wider, so when you walk outdoors, you step onto the grass. You also are walking in the grass to connect the hookups.
That would be no problem but it has been raining and the “grass” is pretty muddy. The remainder of the sites are gravel and dirt.
The cost to stay, with full hookups is $25 per night.
The site they assigned to us had trees on the drivers side and, by the time I maneuvered enough for the slide outs to clear the trees, the power cord would not reach the post.
We were given permission to move to the site next door, which is fine.
We had a decent drive today, in spite of the intermittent rain, making the truck and trailer very dirty. We spoke to Jennifer on the phone several times. She has a head cold and isn’t feeling very well, but Colby seems to be fine as we could hear him in the background. LOL
Marilyn is fixing some pasta for our dinner and we have wine to compliment the food, so we will have a nice evening.
Our plan is to watch “Dancing with the Stars” tonight.
Now, we’ll have to wait to see what tomorrow has in store…..
